Give them roots and wings

I came across this old article on “Animal Bullies” from the magazine Wildlife Wonders, produced by the Jurong BirdPark and Singapore Zoological Gardens.

Apparently, the Lion is the biggest bully of all, and the Cheetahs are the losers.

“Once the prey is brought down, lions and hyaenas move in and use threat behaviour to force the victims to give up their quarry.  However, hyaenas often ‘surrender’ the food that they have robbed to the lions.”

I will never look at a lion the same way again.
Oh well, it is called the King of the jungle.

For Cheetahs, “apart from having their food stolen frequently, their cubs are often killed by lionesses for no apparent reason”.

That is the Animal Kingdom for you.  We are not animals, and we should not live as them.
